It’s the diversity that makes the Village of Merrick Park the place to be in Miami on September 8, 2011 to celebrate the global Fashions Night Out events.

We are looking forward to chatting with Marysol Patton and visiting three Fashion’s Night Out Lounges featuring DJ Ess & Emm, taking in some light bites, informal modeling and a sneak peak of Fall 2011 trends.

We will enjoy complimentary cocktails as well as signature Perrier waters before we head over to capture our Fashion’s Night Out experience by receiving a complimentary photo booth session after we spend $25 from any retailer throughout the center.

Fashion’s Night Out participants at the Village include Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Diane von Furstenberg, and Jimmy Choo, among others. New this year, the Village of Merrick Park will partner with Dress for Success Miami in supporting their campaign, “Check your bag at the door.”

You can donate your gently worn handbag and put in a check to help raise funds for Dress For Success Miami women’s program. We plan to cap the evening with a visit to one of the center’s many dining offerings including the recently opened Cinco Cantina & Tequila Bar, SAWA Restauran t & Lounge, Yard House or the Villagio. Not sure which but I am sure any will be grand!

Chef Dewey’s United Way Interactive Dinner

The Food Friends and Fun – Interactive Dinner belonged to celebrity Chef Dewey LoSasso of The Forge Restaurant. This interactive experience was the ultimate good time for foodies, where tables teamed up to cook their own three-course meal under Chef LoSasso’s tutelage. Bacardi master mixologist Gary Hayward taught everyone a few tricks of the trade and we all enjoyed a few cocktails.

Billboard’s Latin Grammys Cocktail Party

The Eden Roc Renaissance in Miami overlooks world-renowned Miami Beach on prestigious Millionaire’s Row and has played host to Hollywood greats like Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart since 1956. The Eden Roc continues to delight guests and celebrities alike during the Billboard Latin Grammy Awards. Billboard is the world’s premier music brand consisting of Billboard magazine, Billboard.biz, Billboard conferences and events, and Billboard.com—the online destination of choice for millions of music fans.

Here at the kickoff cocktail reception we enjoyed some paella, smoked a complimentary cigar and stayed hydrated with cool drinks while mingling with Latin music aficionados and artists including James de la Raza, Patrick J. Armstrong and up and coming model Alexis Newsome. This one singer named Laura Diamante was especially nice to look at and listen to. She sings and rhymes in both English and Spanish, writes all of her lyrics, composes her music, and co-produces a lot of her beats.

We noticed a favorite fashion accessory this year is the fedora. More on that in our next blog from the Latin Grammy’s at the Eden Roc Renaissance.

Chefs with a Purpose: Haiti

The Chefs With A Purpose: Haiti event was conceived after the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010. At the time, the InterContinental Miami reached out to its staff to determine how many were from and/or had family in Haiti. Nearly 90 employees, approximately one-fifth of the hotel’s staff, were affected. The hotel assisted its employees and families in a variety of ways such as assistance in locating lost loved ones and monetary and product donations. The fundraising event was created shortly thereafter to be able to have a greater reach in assisting the people of Haiti.

Project Medishare is a United States 501(c)(3) that has been in Haiti since 1994, with a focus on community health and development, including programs in healthcare, education, clean water, malnutrition, protection for orphans and vulnerable children, HIV/AIDS treatment, agriculture and women’s empowerment programs. PONKO Swim, NEW YOU & Adriana de MOURA

Miami 3/5/11 – The first PONKO Swimwear fashion show, hosted by celebrity Adriana de MOURA from ‘The Real Housewives of Miami‘, on Thursday, March 3rd, at the W Hotel in South Beach was a true success. More than 1,200 guests came to see the glamorous PONKO Swimwear summer 2011 collection, indulge in complimentary manicure from ‘NAILBAR’ and ‘IT’S A BUNDT’ cakes despite the unusually cold and windy weather.

There was no shortage of onscreen talents, with celebrities Cuba Gooding Junior academy Oscar Winner, Jeffrey Donovan from ‘Burn Notice‘, Bill Zucker and Colombian actress Carolina Lizarazo, but they were also joined by beauty celebrities, including Annilee Hastey, Miss Miami Beach USA, 2011.

For this occasion, all eyes were on Adriana de Moura. ‘The Real Housewives of Miami’ celebrity who is also on the cover of the March 2011 edition of NEW YOU Magazine was the star of a fashion show that took everyone’s breath away.

‘I am very happy to see that people really loved the show and the collection so much. As our first brand Ambassador, I thought Adriana did a really good job and was fabulous on the runway!’ Says Luidmila Rosario Ponko, a Cuban/Russian designer based in Miami.

‘I loved being on the catwalk, and I am very proud to be the face of PONKO and the new cover girl of NEW YOU Magazine. It feels great that everyone is having a good time watching the show in spite of the strong wind!’ says Adriana de Moura.

Cartier’s Polo Event in Dubai

Impressive Line Up Prepares for Cartier’s Polo Event in Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 2011 – Under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, four pro-am polo teams will once again compete in The Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge from the 15 – 18 February 2011 at the Desert Palm Polo Club in Dubai.

Leading names from the world of polo will head to Dubai for this competition. Some patrons, such as Saeed Bin Drai, a member of a renowned Dubai polo playing family; Clive Reid, the winning patron in 2010; Saudi national Amr Zedan, who regularly leads the Gulf Co-Operation team to victory in the UK and leading Swiss player Adriano Agosti are no strangers to this competition. Joining them this year are some new patrons, such as Englishman Gary Shepherd, fellow Guards Polo Club member Kassem Shafi and Dubai resident Farez Al Yabhouney. Of course, the patrons will be playing alongside an equally impressive list of professionals, including both England and Argentine internationals.

Although the tournament’s host, Ali Albwardy will not be playing on Finals Day, his family will be represented through his talented young son Rashid Albwardy, winner of prestigious Queen’s Cup competition in the UK in 2010.

Every match throughout the week will be played at the Albwardys’ beautiful Desert Palm Estate, home to one of Dubai’s premier boutique retreats, Desert Palm by Per AQUUM. Not only does this impressive resort some fine polo grounds, but also provides an extensive LIME Spa, the Red Bar and two award winning restaurants.

With such talent on the field, it is no surprise that the team sponsors are equally impressive. Cartier is again sponsoring its own team in addition to its title sponsorship. Bank Julius Baer returns to Dubai for a second successive year and is hoping to go one better in 2011 after finishing second in last year’s competition.

To ensure that the players’ and ponies’ style is as elegant as their play, the organisers have once again appointed La Martina, the leading Argentine polo clothing and kit company, to be the Official Team Kit Supplier, while the Porsche Centre Dubai, in its role as Official Car Supplier, will ensure that both VIPs and players arrive on time.

During the presentations on Finals Day, a donation will be made to North Star Alliance. This African-based charity is currently building a network of roadside health clinics at transport “hotspots” across Africa. These clinics will enable both long distance lorry drivers and the surrounding communities to have sustainable access to basic health care.

Komen Survivor Fashion Show at The Gardens Mall

The Gardens Mall will celebrate Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in a big way with a series of events being held at the mall. Breast cancer survivors will model fashions from The Gardens Mall retailers in a celebration of life and survivorship in honor of the 20th Susan G. Komen South Florida Race for the Cure®. Race registration will also take place at the mall.

Nancy G. Brinker, founder and CEO of the Komen for the Cure will also be at the mall, signing copies of her book, Promise Me, and visiting with attendees.

Lebron James is coming to play in Miami!

The StyleWise believes that Lebron James will joining Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in playing for the Miami Heat. Our prediction is based on rumors and conversations with sources who say that “Lebron would never come to Miami as this is Wade’s team!” Disinformation at it’s best.

Personally I think the former Olympic team mates have been chatting and besides wanting to play together, the tax breaks that come from living in the State of Florida are a huge incentive. The NBA salary does not matter to Lebron but what does matter to Lebron James is winning and of course where he really makes his money – the sponsorship and endorsement deals.

Let’s see if I am right tonight on ESPN! This prediction by David Siqueiros.

Samsung’s 9th Annual Four Seasons of Hope Gala

Samsung’s 9th Annual Four Seasons of Hope Gala was on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Cipriani in New York City. The event, hosted by Regis and Joy Philbin, will return for their sixth Samsung gala, and features a roster of celebrities including a special performance by American actress, singer, record producer, and fashion designer, Jennifer Lopez, and her husband five-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, Marc Anthony.

The couple will give a live performance to more than 700 guests in attendance where Lopez’s Maribel Foundation – which falls within Samsung’s health platform, will benefit from the evening’s event. Other celebrities include Matthew McConaughey who was on hand to promote j.k. livin – which becomes part of Samsung’s education platform and is dedicated to helping teenage kids lead active lives and make healthy choices to become great men and women.

Beginning in 2002, Samsung starting working with several elite athletes including sport legends Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason, Arnold Palmer, Eli Manning and NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson in addition to civic personalities like Rudy Giuliani and many of Samsung’s business and retail partners to raise more than $25 million for more than 300 schools, community-based foundations, and charities throughout the U.S. Given this history and recent studies that have shown how 1 in 5 children* in the United States suffer from a chronic illness, ranging from asthma to cancer and developmental disabilities and how 25%** of secondary school kids cannot read or understand the material in their textbooks, Samsung felt it was time to enhance its efforts of giving back to the community. These statistics prove that there are a large amount of today’s children who are going to be less productive than they could be as adults and Samsung believes it can continue to help make a difference.
