NEW YORK, NY (December 2009)– Adrian Grenier will host the 4th annual charity: ball to benefit charity: water on December 14, beginning at 7PM at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues). The gala will feature a multimedia exhibition curated by founder Scott Harrison, as well as a silent and live auction and surprise musical guest performance.
Last year’s charity: ball included a performance by Amos Lee, and was attended by a record 1,300 supporters, including Jenna Elfman, Matthew Modine, Nile Rodgers, Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley), Summer Rayne Oakes, Fern Mallis, Andrew Saffir, Daniel Benedict, Lydia Hearst, Byrdie Bell, Richie Rich, Rocco Dispirito, Olivia Palermo, Whitney Port, model MashaRudenko, Olympic fencers Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers.
This year’s honorable guest Host Committee includes Kyra Sedgwick, Andre Harrell, Katie Lee, Jessica Stam, Fisher Stevens, Catt Sadler, Matthew Modine, Blake Mycoskie and Keri Hilson.
charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. In its fourth year, charity: ball continues with the goal to raise awareness and funds to help the more than 1 billion people in the world who do not have access to safe drinking water.
In three years, charity: water has raised nearly $13 million and funded 1,549 water projects in 16 countries, including Uganda, Malawi, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Liberia, Tanzania, India, Bangladesh, and Honduras.
charity: ball plans to raise funds by encouraging guests to participate in its annual simulated “Waterwalk,” which will be matched by private donors at the event. Donors can also sponsor a freshwater well – complete with project progress and GPS coordinates plotted on GoogleEarth. Other event activities include live and silent auctions, with 100% of all funds raised to go directly towards building freshwater wells in developing nations.
