Mercedes Benz selects Narciso Rodriguez as the Spring 2010 “Mercedes Benz Presents” Designer

Narciso Rodriguez, known for his sleek and sculpted fashion design, receives the distinguished title of “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer for this season’s spring 2010 fashion shows at Bryant Park from September 10-17, 2009.

As a Mercedes-Benz Presents designer, Narciso is being recognized and supported for his dedication to quality materials, unique style and innovative design. “It is a great honor to have been chosen by Mercedes-Benz as their Presents designer,” said Rodriguez. “We are both dedicated to innovation in design and the highest level of quality.” Narciso joins an influential group of past Mercedes-Benz Presents designers including Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Yigal Azrouël, Red Carter and CHADO Ralph Rucci.

Mercedes-Benz made its selection for this season’s Presents designer based on Rodriguez’s classic yet modern collections that reflect a sleek and structured approach. “The spring 2010 Collection was greatly influenced by the sculpture of Barbara Hepworth,” added Rodriguez. “The three dimensional and graphic shapes that are her work became a constant source of inspiration while I sketched and created the coming season.”

He received his formal education at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York and is the first designer to win the Council of Fashion Designers of America Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, two years in a row. His designs have been worn by celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Claire Danes and First Lady Michelle Obama.
